đ± Ditch Summit starts on Monday!
Get details -- and win prizes, too!
Wow, can you believe it? The Ditch Summit is one week away!
Itâs our free online conference for teachers we offer every year â running Dec. 11 to Jan. 5.

đ What to expect in the Ditch Summit
If youâve never participated in the Ditch That Textbook Digital Summit, hereâs what you need to know âŠ
THE START: It opens next Monday. Thatâs when youâll first be able to access video presentations and their resources.
THE EMAILS: We send out EVERYTHING for the summit via email. I send emails in the mornings (U.S. Eastern time) during the summit. I write each email myself, and I do my best to get them out early, but sometimes â especially when my family is on winter break â it takes longer than Iâd like!
NEW SESSIONS: Each weekday for the first two weeks, Iâll email you links to the new presentations made available that day â one featured speaker presentation and one spotlight sponsor session.
PREVIOUS SESSIONS: From the moment the summit opens until it closes, all previous yearsâ sessions will be available to watch. There are more than 80 of them!
SPEAKER PAGE: When you click a link to watch a video presentation, youâll be taken to the speaker page. There, youâll find links to lots of resources and information about that presenter.
VIDEO LIBRARY: We also have the âVideo Libraryâ page. Itâs a main page that has links to ALL of our video presentations â new featured speakers, new spotlight sponsors, and all previous yearsâ sessions.
PD CERTIFICATES: For ALL of our sessions, you can generate a certificate of completion for professional development credit for your school/district.
NOTES: Each session also has a downloadable notes page, complete with important points and links to session resources. You can download and keep these forever!
ON-DEMAND: None of our sessions are live streamed. Everything is pre-recorded and available on-demand. That way, we donât leave out anyone in any time zone.
THE END: The summit ends at the end of the day on Friday, Jan. 5. After that, all of the summit resources (videos, certificates, etc.) will become unavailable until the summit opens again next December.

đđ This yearâs featured speakers and spotlight sponsors
Each year, I keep my eyes and ears open all year long for Ditch Summit speakers. (Iâm pretty picky about who I invite to be a featured speaker.)
Here are this yearâs speakers:
Joe and Kristin Merrill (Teachers, Speakers, Creators, Authors -- The InterACTIVE Class)
CJ Reynolds (Level Up Your Learners / Real Rap with Reynolds)
Fely GarcĂa LĂłpez (Educator Innovation Lead -- Microsoft Flip)
Andre Daughty (Speaker, Educator, Creator)
Matt Miller (Educator, Author, Speaker, Podcaster -- Ditch That Textbook)
Karly Moura (Blog and Social Media Editor -- Ditch That Textbook)
Yaritza Villalba (CEO -- McKenzieâs Adventures LLC)
Julie Smith (Professor -- Webster University)
This year, weâll have multiple featured speaker sessions about artificial intelligence, project-based learning, and teaching with technology.
Over the last few years, weâve also included Spotlight Sponsor Sessions.
We invite sponsors from some of our favorite edtech tools and services to participate in the Ditch Summit. In these quick 30-minute sessions, they share clever ways to use their tech tools, practical teaching ideas, and classroom strategies.
Theyâre presentations â not product pitches â so youâll come away from each one with something practical.
Oh, and some of them like to give away special bonuses for people who watch ⊠so be on the lookout!
đ See you Monday!
I canât wait to open the summit to you on Monday!
I hope you love the summit. Itâs a labor of love every year, and I hope it supports you in the important work youâre doing in your class / your school / your district.
Take care âŠ
